DTB Partners with Aga Khan Foundation in Mangrove Planting Project
DTB partnered with local communities and environmental stakeholders in an impactful mangrove planting initiative aimed at restoring and protecting Tanzania’s coastal ecosystems on November 21st, 2025. This activity reflects our continued commitment to environmental sustainability and climate resilience, recognizing the vital role mangroves play in safeguarding shorelines and supporting marine biodiversity.
The event brought together a diverse group of participants who gathered at the Bagamoyo coastal site to actively contribute to the planting exercise. Through a coordinated effort, over 6,000 mangrove seedlings were planted, with guidance provided on proper planting techniques to ensure their survival and long-term growth. The initiative also served as an educational platform, raising awareness about the importance of mangroves in preventing coastal erosion, mitigating climate change impacts and sustaining livelihoods dependent on marine resources.
This mangrove planting effort marks an important step toward enhancing environmental conservation and community engagement. It reinforces the need for ongoing collaboration and stewardship to ensure the success of restoration projects. Moving forward, continuous monitoring and expansion of such initiatives will be essential in strengthening ecosystem resilience and creating a lasting positive impact on both the environment and surrounding communities.
